Readfield Winter Carnival 2025!
The Community Fund worked with Jen Worthing and the Readfield Rec Department to plan and execute a Readfield Winter Carnival on Saturday, February 15. The carnival was held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Readfield Beach, on the ice at Maranacook Lake, and on the cross-country ski trails and sledding hill at Maranacook School. The day was packed with ice fishing lessons, ice skating and hockey on three rinks, sledding on Champions Hill, and cross country ski lessons on the trails at Maranacook School.
The event was well-attended with well over 100 people for some of the day. We introduced our new gear trailer and library to folks at the event and provided ice skates and cross country gear for anyone who needed it. The Readfield Rec Committee did a great job preparing the rinks and making the day run smoothly.
Our Community Fund extends a huge thank you to By the Board Lumber and the Maine Cabin Masters for their help in setting up the Gear Trailer, Cobbossee Bait for donating the bait for ice fishing, Jacktraps for making it possible for us to provide 20 ice fishing traps, and Hannaford in Winthrop for donating two grocery bags full of the fixings for S'mores.
This was a great community event that definitely left people wanting more!
Below are some photos of this incredible day!
